About Susan
Having grown up in a very small town in eastern South Carolina, I always looked forward to trips to the bustling city of Charlotte and knew one day I wanted to make my home here. After working in the commercial arena of real estate for ten years, I was ready for a change and a new challenge and my heart led me here to the right place in the Steele Creek area.
With a strong customer service background I found my way into project management for a few years but I knew something was missing. I volunteered with the Make a Wish Foundation and that definitely fulfilled one piece of the puzzle. A friend then suggested I take a residential real estate course in the evenings and I dove in on a whim thinking it would be a fun hobby. In 2001, I obtained my NC and SC licenses and fell into a niche of working with first time home buyers. It was such a joy being a part of the entire experience and especially seeing the excited looks when everyone knew we had found “that” home, the one that was meant to be. It felt more than good; it felt great. More and more I realized my dream was to make real estate my full-time career.
Of course life sometimes has other plans. I took a brief hiatus in the budding new career I loved, to join my then fiancé in Ohio. It was there I was able to fully appreciate everything I missed about “home.”
Having been back in Charlotte for over three years I am thrilled to know my daughter will grow up here and excited to help others establish roots in this wonderful area as well.
I firmly believe that in order to be successful you must do what you love, where you most love to do it, and working with First Properties gives me the opportunity to do just that!
Special Skills / Interests
I love spending time with my family consisting of the loud sports fanatic husband of mine, Patrick (go Heels!) and my adorable, fun and incredibly smart three year old Kaylee (who, despite the fact that neither of us has a strand of curly hair, looks like Shirley Temple) and my other two babies (the barkers of the family) Molly, a Malti-poo and Cassie, a Shihpoo. We are also very close to our extended families in Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Darlington, SC.
I also love traveling, trying different restaurants/foods and going to local festivals. My secret indulgences would have to be reading James Patterson, watching The Amazing Race and riding amusement park rides that either make you dizzy or scream or both.
